Well if you ever decide to take off to a foreign land here are somethings you might want to expect.
- People talking to you while your in the rest room or showering or such
- A lot of honking.
- Making mere eye contact may result in letting the other person know your interested in them, so watch out when your walking in the street.
- To eat "green" or unripe fruit like bananas and mangos.
- To GET SUN BURNT.
- To see trash in un-normal places.
- Eating exotic fruit.
These last few days have been a lot of learning experiences and getting to know the personnel of the company Im working with.
Ive learned more about the industry of coffee than what I think you guys want to know.
So during the last couple days Ive learned that chunchas are like *point* that thing.
mamones are an exotic fruit with have a fuzzy content around the seed which is what you eat and then spit the seed out. As well as guavas arent the same fruit as over there. They are a derivative of vanilla breed, where you only eat the coating of the seed.
Today, was an interesting day I met with the personnel at 7:30 am to depart around 8:00 to Managua with the mission to deliver pre made packages of essentail to children currently suffering cancer and present at the hospital. In addition was packed a beanie to keep them warm and a toy as well as a gift for the mothers and some juice.
It was surprising to hear some of them were from all the way across the country from either bordering Honduras or on the Atlantic side of Nicaragua. With my broken spanish, I tried to also communicate with these precious kids who had so much strength some of them fighting for a while some of them had just started treatment or were there for analysis.
After we made our round we ended up in the wing of special cases. This was touching again, a kid of around 5 first to approach me we talked for a bit and he mentioned 4 kids in his wing had died today with just like talking about a movie he had seen, and additionally while we were in that wing there was a toddler who didnt make it through the surgery, another who had just had their foot amputated again toddlers. Its like it was normal, we also prayed for a 15 year old girl who had anemonia, she was in her third stage they were only giving her two months left, it was just surprising and we are all so forunate to be healthy and living the lives we are living. If I could come back in december to do it again and give more to all the kids, I would. Its such a heartfelt momment. Its times like these you feel alive. There were so many kids who touched my heart today. This is the reason I came to do things like this to feel alive. To see the difference people are making. May God bless all these souls.
On a brighter note here are a couple,
things I found out I adore today.
- Riding in the back of trucks
- Kids finding hope in your smile.
- Seeing herds of animals on the side of the road
- Seeing the natural essence of a country undesturbed as well as the clean lakes and rivers
Have a good day, and you guys can comment below if you'd like :)
