This is a little piece of what I am doing with my life today. I hope you find it knowledgeable and take away a little piece of it with you.
Social responsibility this day and age with the uprising population is an immense factor where companies should now review their standings with their global effect. Making the right decisions in these areas can be crucial to the corporation in this environmental and socially aware population. If customers become aware of the negativities circulating around the company, it can immensely affect the company and its consumer base. Especially now with the wide use of social media and easy access of it the word will spread about the unethical behaviors of the company.
The Kellogg Corporation is quite a socially responsible and proactive. The founder “sought to ‘invest money in people’” and the legacy is still continued by the corporation. Not only are they sound for the consumers, employees but also for the environment. Over the years this company has been able to keep up with the changing times and has been able to adapt and be proactive. Under their companies website and Kellogg’s CR report, notes the goals they are trying to obtain are exclusively Proactive. From their environmental practice of heat recovery system where they convert waste of food to animal feed, conservation of water to recycling programs. Kellogg’s has a lot they are trying to do to better the place the work with and the community they are involved with. Over 80% of the waste generated at their operation site is recycled. That is a pretty big percentage compared with other companies. Kellogg’s original myth purpose was even to help within the society, they were born and raise to benefit and be socially responsible. A quote from the founder should essentially wrap up the essence of Kellogg’s concern for the society it surrounds its self with, “We are a company of dedicated people making quality products for a healthier world,” W. K. Kellogg.
However Kimberley and Clarks name has been driven through the mud regarding its socially irresponsible practices, regardless of its propaganda. They have been unwilling to change its practices. KMB has gone and cleared the ancient Boreal forest in North America home to many animals. Therefore if they can’t even take care of the forest in their resident country one can already assume their practices overseas. This isn’t even defensive strategy. KMB has focused on the last couple years to “green-washing” their website and producing CR reports which aren’t fully executed. An example of a recent mockery KMB has recently publicized is the disposable hand towel. Instead of expressing the need to reuse, recycle and continue to be aware of our waste, Kimberly-Clark goes out and makes a product which knowingly will pollute our world to a greater extent.
I suggest you think twice about buying the brand Kleenex
